Endocrinology is a branch of medicine that studies the endocrine system. The endocrinologist deals with the diagnosis and treatment of hormonal conditions, and endocrine diseases can occur in both adults and children.

Here are some conditions that are treated by the endocrinologist:

  • pituitary adenomas (pituitary tumors that may secrete hormones or be non-functional)
  • diabetes insipidus (excessive thirst associated with excessive urination)
  • hyperthyroidism (excessive production of thyroid hormones)
  • hypothyroidism (insufficient production of thyroid hormones)
  • autoimmune thyroiditis
  • thyroid nodules
  • thyroid cancer
  • hyperparathyroidism (high level of PTH in the blood)
  • hypoparathyroidism (low level of PTH in the blood)

It is necessary for the patient to bring to the office:

  • medical documents (medical letters, hospitalization files, results of investigations made before, other medical tests or files)
  • any identification document (ID, passport)

For a checkup settled by the romanian insurance program, you also need:

  • romanian or european health card (for adults)
  • referral letter from the family doctor or the specialist doctor for checkups settled by the romanian insurance program
  • insurance certificate for insured persons who do not have a romanian health card

  • excess body hair in women
